DiscworldArmies Agatean Empire by RyanRyzzo DiscworldArmies Agatean Empire by RyanRyzzo
My take on the armies of Discworld!
Here we have the soldiers of the Agatean Empire.

"The Agatean Empire is similar to feudal Japan or Imperial China, most obviously in the vast wall that surrounds it, and the belief that anyone from outside the Empire must be an invisible vampire ghost (probably a play on gwailo, lit. ghost man). The name is a pun on the term "Jade Empire," referring to ancient China."

I was inspired by the armour worn by Mongols, Japanese and the Chinese to do the Agateans.

From the left there is depicted a simple leather helmet worn by the lower class soldiery.
Next there is a cavalry man armoured with lamellar/or square scale?/ armour. His horse is also covered in plates. He is wielding a spear thing.
Underneath an infantry captain is taking orders from a general of the Red Army(parody of both the PLA and the Terracotta army; slightly out of sync with things because of time and quantum).
The general is holding out the Imperial Most Important Orders of the Emperor's Soap Bar(fictional). Equipped with scale/lamellar armour he is also carrying a straight sword.
An Agatean noble, probably unhorsed. Similarly armoured and carrying a broad curved sword; a shield and a lance.

May you live in interesting times!

The guy on the right is partly inspired by samurai. I made some changes in the description :)

I can see the haidate and the sode, as well as the kabuto and the shikoro Sadly we don't have a frontal view on the kozane do :D It lacks the traditional samurai kote, but has included kozane han kote and tekko. You also switched the haidate and kusazuri from position, the haidate being on top of the kusazuri, and the greaves closely resemble suneate.

The only thing what differs Japanese armour from Chinese or Mongol scale armours is the lay-out of the do, haidate and sode, and the decorations of them.

Haidate=Thigh guard
Sode=Shoulder guard
Shikoro=Neck guard
Kote=Armoured sleeves
Han kote=Vambraces
Kozane=Lamellar armour
Suneate=Japanese greaves

I admit, for about 25% of the Japanese names I had to use google :P

I'm not much of an expert in that field d:
However in Discworld all that would've been probably known as
Boingotittopurutecto - cuirass
Ouchi-no-buns - Thig guard
No-decapututo - Neck guard
Aruma-no-choppy - Armoured sleeves
Etu seterő - et cetera

d: hehehe
